Daily Derriere, September 7, 2016, “Driving Lesson”

Another abandoned watercolor painting/drawing from the same period as “Don’t Bogart That Joint #2”. Perhaps I will complete it some day. As with “‘…Bogart…” I rather like it as is, and for the same reasons.

Daily Derriere, September 6, 2016, “Don’t Bogart That Joint #2”

A long abandoned watercolor painting/drawing. Perhaps I shall complete it someday. I rather like it as is; the shapes work very well and are emphasized by the lightness of the under drawing.

THE DAILY DICK, NOVEMBER 10, 2013

This is the final double page spread in this series.
Herein we fully see the supplicating torn-paper face glimpsed obliquely in
yesterday’s blog posting. We also see, more clearly, the torn paper crotch
profile from yesterday’s blog and the man’s hips from the blog before that.
There’s something vaguely profound about it.

THE DAILY DICK, NOVEMBER 4, 2013

 For this
one, I did the drawing first on yellow construction paper, cut out the drawing
and traced it onto the page of the Am Ex date book destined for it’s adhesion.
Then I laid down heavy puddles of blue and green watercolor onto the page,
painted more shapes, wet into wet, into those shapes, and let the whole thing
dry. Then I glued the construction paper drawing onto that page, then drew back
into the drawing with colored pencil. The image was inspired by something I
found on the web.

THE DAILY DICK, OCTOBER

For the next few days we
will be taking a break from the AmEx sketchbook drawings. Instead, I will be
posting drawings done in the period after my April 2nd stroke.

This drawing was done on
August 8th, over 4 months since the dreaded event. I had mostly recovered
my drawing confidence by this point, if not necessarily my chops (I’m still not
sure about THAT.) It was done from memory This is the same man I drew in the
drawing dated 9-22-12.

Sigh…

This
drawing was sketched lightly with ball point pen and painted into with
watercolor.

THE DAILY DICK, OCTOBER 4. 2013

This was sketched in regular
Dixon Ticonderoga Soft pencil, then painted into with either water color or
gouache.

It was
drawn both from loving memory and from fantasy.

THE DAILY DICK, SEPTEMBER 28, 2013

As I begin doing better, or
more ambitious paintings, the nature of the paper becomes somewhat
constraining. As I mentioned in an earlier blog, the paper in the American
Express Date Book is pretty thin, lacking in body, and has a weird quality of
being initially repellant to paint, then becomes too porous.  Oh well.

It is
done in watercolor.

THE DAILY DICK, SEPTEMBER 27, 2013

I rather like this painting. It is an agreeable
combination of abstract and descriptive. I like the gestural quality of the
paint, as well as the colors. It is done in watercolor.

THE DAILY DICK, SEPTEMBER 17, 2013

I drew this in pen & ink (coquille and India),
before laying watercolor onto it and highlighting the dick with gouache. I
thought it would be fun to draw a small penis for a change, just to be
subversive, or maybe inclusive. The yellow color is a co-incidence, an
afterthought. One viewer thought I was drawing Asian dick; such was not my
intent. Or, it may be Asian dick, but then, so might all my other penis
close-ups.
