This is slated for my upcoming adults only adult coloring book. It’s a homage to Picasso; in fact it’s a fairly direct swipe (although I no longer have the source drawing, so you’ll have to accept my word for it); all I changed was the gender of the artist’s models and the artist, which I based off myself.
This piece is based off the concepts of Jack Kirby. I am swiping nothing specific, only the general gestalt.
The drawing’s specific inspiration is a sketch done 23 years ago, when I was in my Kirby-worship phase. When I excavated it and tried to repurpose it for my upcoming Adults Only adult coloring book, I decided to try to imitate more than just the Master’s line quality. I converted it from horizontal to vertical as a simple expedient enabling me to cram more stuff in (the better for y’all to color).
I’m posting both the original and the redo.
Another old drawing repurposed for my upcoming Adults Only Adult Coloring Book(s). I’m posting both drawings. I’m not sure how to handle the lighting aspect (which is so central to the original) in the coloring book version. Any thoughts?
More work of this kind can be seen (and purchased) at www.flamingartists.com
This is a drawing from the upcoming Adults Only adult coloring book. I’m repurposing it from an original done in 2003-ish. I was inspired by S. Clay. Wilson’s “Checkered Demon” and wanted to do a gay version of it. This is as close as I can get to S.C. even though I admire aspects of his work. Actually this drawing looks more like Geoff Darrow than anything else.
When you’ll buy the (eventual) book, you can color the demon’s padded vest jacket in a checkerboard pattern.
This image is called “Sauna”. I am in the process of re-drawing it for my forthcoming Adults Only adult coloring book. It is being adapted from a drawing first executed almost 30 years ago. I re-drew it the following year for inclusion into “Chiron Rising”, a soft-core porn magazine for gay men, 50 years and older, and their admirers. I actually prefer the previous 2 versions. I’m still working it out on the current version. I could potentially call this “done”, but certain aspects of the comparative size relationships bother me. I’m including all 3 versions.
See if you can spot the famous comic book and strip characters.
I call this drawing “Don’t Bogart That Joint”. It’s one of a series of watercolors I started and abandoned in the early ‘00s. I’m repurposing it as a drawing in my forthcoming “Adults Only” adult coloring book.
This is a drawing for my upcoming “adults only” adult coloring book.
“No No Nonet” was originally done in 1981 as an etching. It was an assignment for a printmaking class I took at The University of Alaska, Anchorage. I was impressed that my teacher and fellow student maintained their cool as I was working on it. The original is 8” x 10”.
I am reworking it as a piece in my forthcoming adults only adult coloring book.
I am ambivalent about my 2017 re-draw. I think the original has a quality that the modern re-make lacks. I may give it another pass before I call it “done”. I don’t think I can use the original “as is”.
This was originally meant to be an erotic drawing of Baron Mordo, from the old Dr. Strange comic book series, though one can scarcely tell now. I have repurposed it for inclusion into my upcoming adults only adult coloring book. Stay tuned.
Instanbull 2
This is a play on words; the model is Turkish, hence “Istanbul”, the capital of Turkey, and he has a big dick, hence the “bull”. And its “Istanbull 2”, because I did another “Istanbull” about 10 years ago. You can see it in “True Adult Fantasy” #2, available on my flamingartists.com website.
