THE DAILY DICK, SEPTEMBER 30, 2013

I like this drawing muchly; I like the way I inked it
drybrush. I wish I was brave enough or skilled enough or whatever enough to ink
my comics this way. I tried inking “Fogtown” like this in the beginning, but it
was looking like crap; not spontaneous and gestural, just messy. I was trying
to imitate Milt Caniff, Tony Salmons and Jordi Bernet. But I was working too
small. It’s amazing how large the originals for “Steve Canyon” and “Terry and
the Pirates” were.
