“Frottage”:arriving at an orgasm by pressing up behind someone in a crowd and rubbing up against that person” (New Webster’s Medical Dictionary ©1981). It doesn’t seem to apply specifically to this drawing, but it comes close enough.
I’d guess this drawing was done to be included in “Secret Love” 4. Since it survives at 8.5″ x 11″ I assume it didn’t get into the Recycled Erotica exhibition. It’s done on the back of a WAND/LA (Women’s Action For Nuclear Disarmament) flyer.
This drawing is not at all
influenced by Picasso, except that it’s mostly blue in color (referencing Mr.
P’s Blue Period), and seems to be set in Africa (Cubism was heavily influenced
by African Art).
I
rather like it, though, looking at it a year later, it would have been better
without the shadow of the foliage that runs directly behind the black man’s
penis, thus making it almost unreadable. Or maybe that’s a good thing.
