Copied from an old photo, painted with watercolor and
gouache. This time around, the map of Africa is defaced.
Here, I take a completely different tack from yesterday’s blog drawing
, trying to
see how simple and abstract I can get while keeping the subject matter
readable. I drew with ball point pen. It would have worked well in cut paper.
I don’t have much to say about this one. I drew it in
less than 10 minutes. I rather like it for it’s Picasso-esque whimsicality. I
drew it in ballpoint pen, no under drawing.
Here, I’m getting the hang
of working over, being inspired by an existing photo. Some might see my drawing
as a snide comment on patriotism. Such was not my intent. Given the nature of
my self-imposed assignment, I now see hard-ons everywhere I look.
This one
is pen and ink, with painted highlights in gouache.
Nothing special here— I lightly sketched it in
pencil, then painted the lines with watercolor or gouache. I based it off
another photo culled from mid’80’s newsstand gay-porn rags.
