THE DAILY DERRIERE, JULY 31, 2016 PM, Impending Sex

This is the drawing from yesterday evening, traced in Photoshop using the brush tool. At some future point, I may color it. Or maybe you will.

“Frottage”:arriving at an orgasm by pressing up behind someone in a crowd and rubbing up against that person” (New Webster’s Medical Dictionary ©1981). It doesn’t seem to apply specifically to this drawing, but it comes close enough.

THE DAILY DERRIERE, JULY 28, 2016

I’m always trying to simplify my approach. On today’s drawing (which I executed 3 years ago today), I used charcoal to draw a female butt in the simplest possible terms. I then sprayed it with fixative. Viewing the drawing 3 years on, I noticed the ghost image on the facing page, which I hadn’t counted on (foolish, I know). I realized it would’ve been cool if I’d flopped the drawing; that way the ghost image would have made an entire butt. Thanks to the magic of Photoshop, you now see what could have been and what may yet be in some future sketchbook.

THE DAILY DERRIERE, JULY 26, 2016

To fill in the gaps in my DAILY DERRIERE series that I executed in 2013, using a 2012 AMERICAN EXPRESS APPOINTMENT BOOK as my sketchbook, I’m posting a drawing from a 1994 journal. During this period in the early-ish 90’s, for a couple years, I did my daily journal on the backs of photocopies that I hole-punched and put in binders. One can see the ghost-image of the reverse side, which I haven’t taken the time to fully obliterate.

THE DAILY DERRIERE, JULY 25, 2016

This “drawing” was done simply by careful tearing the page of the 2012 AMERICAN EXPRESS DAILY APPOINTMENT BOOK” that I was using in 2013 when I did these drawings for the “DAILY DERRIERE” series. For better or worse, as I scanned this page on July 23rd, 2016, I made the snap judgment call to put another sheet of white paper behind the page to hide the page underneath (which will be the DAILY DERRIERE post for July 27, 2016) from view.

This drawing was done with Prismacolors. It’s a closer view of the photograph I copied on one of the DAILY DERRIERE posts for July 22nd. I drew it over the AMERICAN EXPRESS APPOINTMENT BOOK for 2012 that I was using as my sketchbook when I was doing the DAILY DERRIERE series back in 2013.
