Bawling Out #2, The Daily Derriere, April 20, 2017

This is the second in a series of drawings I kept in an erotic sketchbook 1989. I call this series “Bawling Out”. Obviously, it’s playing around with the sado-masochism inherent in military basic training. The twist here is that the abusive drill sergeant is diminutive and the GI is built like a brick shit-house. But, as in “Wuvable Oaf”, the big galoot is totally hot for the smaller man. I’ve opted not to re-draw the later drawings in this series at this time; the draftsmanship isn’t what it could be (in terms of maintaining a consistent likeness for the characters), but I really like the line quality.

Bawling Out #1, The Daily Derriere, April 19, 2017

This drawing is re-drawn from a sketch in an erotic sketchbook I was keeping in 1989. It was part of a series I recently called “Bawling Out”. The original drawing appeared in either True Adult Fantasy #1 or True Adult Fantasy #2 (I forget which). I decided to redraw it for inclusion in my upcoming adults only adult erotic coloring book. I’m including both in case viewers want to draw conclusions about what a difference almost 30 years of exercising one’s craft might or might not make.

Beetle and Sarge, The Daily Derriere, April 18, 2017

This was drawn in 1989, as part of a one-man show at the “One Way”, a gay leather bar in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, United States. The show was titled “Recycled Erotica”. As part of the show, I did a series of 8” x 10” pen and ink illustrations of well-known comic strip and book characters in sexual situations.

I revisited this subject matter in 1991, for a  one man show at “A Different Light” bookstore in Silverlake, Los Angeles, California, United State, called “Free Art”. This time the originals were 34” x 48” inched, on full sheets of 3 ply Strathmore Art Paper.

“Down Low With Lou #21”, The Daily Derriere, March 1, 2017

While prepping this series of archival illustrations, I got the idea for a new one, Or to be more precise, I drew this then realized it could fit into the “Down Low With Lou” series with minor alterations. Drawn with light blue Colorerase pencil and medium gray Tombo brush pen.

“Down Low With Lou #15”, The Daily Derriere, February 23, 2017

Last night I pulled out my DVD boxed set of “The Mary Tyler Moore Show Season 1” and did this head turn off freeze frames of Ed Asner. Hmmm. Not there yet. Stay tuned.

“Down Low With Lou #13/14”, The Daily Derriere, February 22, 2017

The series of drawings I’ve come to call “Down Low With Lou” was executed in December ’88, January ’89. After having pursued it to the point where I found it had legs, I decided to pin the “Lou” character down with a more formal character design. Since I had been employed for a half decade in the TV Animation industry by that time, that meant a head-turn. If I’d really been into it, I’d have done a 3/4 besides the profile and front, and maybe a full body turn as well, with a page of attitude drawings. This would have all be good practice for one of my career goals, transitioning from storyboards to character designs, or, at least, getting to do both, like my hero, Alex Toth.

Note that I was working with out reference, so the drawings only look like Ed Asner in a general sense.
