Mortality and aging is much
on my mind these days, especially since the death of my (life-mate? Husband?
Spouse? Ex-best-friend?) and my recent stroke. Most of the photos I work off in
“The Daily Dick” were published in the mid 80’s. almost 40 years ago. I wonder
what these men look like now, or even if they’re still alive.
I recently had the
opportunity to sketch Mickey Squires,

who life-modeled at the Tom of Finland
headquarters in Echo Park, Los Angeles, California. This man was featured in
the first Gayporn skinrag I ever bought, in 1983. These days, he’s going for
the “daddy” thing, kind of. He jokingly apologized for his “bhudda belly”. No
apology was required, as far as I was concerned. I hope I look as good when I’m
that age as he does. Shit, I wish I looked that good now. Better get to work.
Speaking
of age, the dick depicted on October 2nd belongs to a 73 year old
man. Still works, as my sore anus will attest.
This was sketched in regular
Dixon Ticonderoga Soft pencil, then painted into with either water color or
gouache.
It was
drawn both from loving memory and from fantasy.
